Niner Nuggets- Week 14

There were some big things happening with the Charlotte 49er Baseball program over the past week. Let’s take a quick look!!

Niners going Honey Hunting in Gastonia?

In early April following the sweep at FIU, the 49ers were one of 40+ schools to put in a bid to host an NCAA Regional. On Friday the selection committee announced that the Charlotte 49ers were selected as one of the 20 host site finalists.

With the potential capacity of the Hayes unknown at the time the bid was submitted, it was determined that the 49ers would bid to host at the larger, newly named CaroMont Health Park in Gastonia. The brand new stadium just outside of Charlotte has a capacity of 5,000+ and is home to the new professional Atlantic League team, the Gastonia Honey Hunters. The Honey Hunters are opening up their inaugural season next week but will be on a road trip during the time of the NCAA Regionals. Tickets are on sale now and you can reserve your seats by clicking HERE.

What a great milestone for the Charlotte baseball program to be named among the Top 20 programs in the country. The NCAA will determine the final 16 host sites on Sunday or Monday following the conference tournament weekend. Here is a look at how we currently stack up against the other 19 schools selected as finalists (sorted by current RPI):
